School's Aims and Objectives

The sole purpose of Lewis Girls’ school is to ensure teaching is to the best possible standard so that students can engage with the 4 core purposes of learning to become:

  • Ambitious, capable learner.

Lewis Girls’ School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Mission Statement

I expect staff, and learners, to know what our school stands for so that ‘HEDD’ is lived here on a daily basis in our school.

Lewis Girls’ aims to be a happy, caring school, committed to creating an excellent learning environment where every student has the opportunity to achieve their potential.

Pastoral Care

The school has a very strong pastoral system based on Heads of Achievement leading support teams, including form tutors. The aim is to guide and support students in their learning and provide advice and support for emotional problems and to ensure that progress, care and discipline is maintained. We pride ourselves on the care given to students, encouraging them to share their problems and seek support from staff if they need help.

A key role is that of the form tutor. They regularly link with parents to provide an immediate point of contact. The form tutors work with Heads of Achievement (H.O.A.) assigned to each Key Stage. These staff are supported by Assistant Heads of Achievement, progress managers and learning mentors to oversee the wellbeing of all students within the school.

Parents are encouraged to contact school if they have concerns regarding either academic progress or personal issues. These will be followed up and support provided to the student to help overcome any difficulties.
